Carolina Fibre Corporation Attends the Southeast Recycling Conference and Trade Show

Earlier this week, members of our team attended the 26th Southeast Recycling Conference and Trade Show (SERC) at the Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa in Destin, Florida. The SERC is the provider of the premier forum that informs the public and private sectors of the significance of recycling and waste reduction. Like Carolina Fibre Corporation, the SERC is committed to recycling in the Southeast and dedicated to serving as a resource to other businesses and enhancing the ecosystem for future generations.
With 62 exhibitors and 540 registered attendees, this year’s conference showcased the newest advances in recycled products and services. Industry expert and established speaker Ed Foreman delivered a workshop on the Extrusion of Plastics and a motivational keynote that provided insights on increasing productivity and re-energizing our campaigns to reach new audiences.
We were fortunate to meet with a number of our colleagues to collaborate and discuss recent developments, the future of recycling, energy and fuel opportunities from waste, and commercial recycling initiatives.
The 27th Annual Southeast Recycling Conference and Trade show is tentatively scheduled for 8 – 11 March, 2015.

Three Simple Steps to Set Up a Corporate Recycling Program

Interested in setting up a recycling program for your company in Greensboro or the Triad area? We are here to help guide you from the very beginning. Just follow the steps listed below.
First, analyze all the different types of items you are discarding. Consider office paper, magazines, newspapers, textbooks, cardboard, aluminum cans, glass containers, plastic bottles, packaging and more. Carolina Fibre provides service for a variety of recyclable materials.
Next, try to track the quantity of items you can recover on a monthly basis. Approximately what percentage of office paper is discarded? How long would it take your company to completely fill a trashcan with plastic bottles – once a month, week, day? Make note of this information, and consider ways to ensure your employees could properly dispose of recyclable items in the workplace.
Finally, contact us to set up an appointment. Carolina Fibre will send a representative to tour your facility and speak with you personally about your company’s recycling needs. From there we can provide a customized recycling program for your company.
Carolina Fibre Corporation provides services in the following North Carolina cities: Greensboro, High Point, Winston-Salem, Kernersville and Burlington.

A Visit to the Solid Waste Authority in Palm Beach County, FL

Our team recently visited the Solid Waste Authority (SWA) of Palm Beach County, Florida – one of our suppliers! We really enjoyed touring their Recovered Materials Processing Facility (RMPF) and wanted to share more information about this award-winning facility with you.
The SWA constructed the new, $40 Million, 138,000 square foot RMPF in October of 2009. The facility is the largest RMPF in the state of Florida! This facility allowed the SWA of Palm Beach County to expand the materials accepted into the facility to now include all cardboard, such as beverage cartons and tissue boxes, steel cans and junk mail. This further reduces the county’s alliance on the landfill.
Palm Beach County’s SWA has won multiple awards and has been recognized by organizations like the Solid Waste Association of North America and Recycle Florida Today. The SWA has recycled over two million tons of both residential and commercial material. For more information about the facility, click here.

Decrease your Environmental Footprint and Increase your Savings with a Custom Recycling Program

Large or small, and whatever your industry, every company can increase its sustainability with a recycling program. And making sustainability a company objective isn’t just a trend; it’s about reducing negative human impact and enhancing the ecosystem. Sustainability also protects your bottom line. The team at Carolina Fibre Corporation specializes in evaluating your specific company waste output and customizing a program that will help you maximize your sustainability while meeting recycling requirements. And with four locations in the Piedmont Triad, we have a recycling center near you.
Recycling isn’t just about breaking down sustainable materials. It’s about keeping the materials in a flow from its original recycling point to being processed and then to the next manufacturing location to be remade. We make sure you have the proper equipment to best collect and prepare recyclable materials for storage and pickup. We use drop trailer service to help you accommodate an overflow of recyclables from your facility. And we operate with continuity of movement—the recyclables we collect from you are continuously marketed, immediately processed and transported to places like paper mills that use the secondary fiber.
Here are our most popular services and some of the benefits to working with our expert team:
*Paper, Plastic and Aluminum Recycling – Though we specialize in these three because they’re the most common, we have the resources and equipment available to recycle a long list of less common materials.
*Confidential Document Destruction/Shredding – We are officially approved to provide this service for sensitive files and information, including a certificate of destruction. Clients who use this service include attorneys, hospitals and government agencies.
*Textbook Recycling – This program allows school systems to dispose of outdated books without sending them to the landfill.
