A Visit to the Solid Waste Authority in Palm Beach County, FL
Our team recently visited the Solid Waste Authority (SWA) of Palm Beach County, Florida – one of our suppliers! We really enjoyed touring their Recovered Materials Processing Facility (RMPF) and wanted to share more information about this award-winning facility with you.
The SWA constructed the new, $40 Million, 138,000 square foot RMPF in October of 2009. The facility is the largest RMPF in the state of Florida! This facility allowed the SWA of Palm Beach County to expand the materials accepted into the facility to now include all cardboard, such as beverage cartons and tissue boxes, steel cans and junk mail. This further reduces the county’s alliance on the landfill.
Palm Beach County’s SWA has won multiple awards and has been recognized by organizations like the Solid Waste Association of North America and Recycle Florida Today. The SWA has recycled over two million tons of both residential and commercial material. For more information about the facility, click here.
